I recently went to Queenstown for a week during Winter Festival for a bit of a holiday and to do some snowboarding. It's been about 3 years since I last made it down there, and it was bustling with energy. I always loved it down there, it might be cold but the sun is almost always shining and it's incredibly beautiful with the blue lake entirely surrounded with snowcapped mountains. Did not want to leave!
